Covergirl Queen Collection: Review

Let me start off by saying, I strongly dislike mixing foundations to make the perfect match. I am all about convenience, & like most women, I'd rather have the perfect match in ONE bottle. However, at times this is simply not the case. Many foundation companies still do not offer a wide enough variety of shades, ESPECIALLY for women of color. As some of you may know, the Covergirl Queen Collection has been out for a number of years. I have tried & LOVE some of the products from the line. Here is a review of the face products from the collection that I own. PLEASE keep in mind that I have DRY skin, so I can't really speak to how these products will work for people with oily or combination skin.

My favorite product from the Covergirl Queen Collection is Natural Hue Compact Foundation.

I wear the shade Almond Glow Q515. This color is a perfect match for my skin. I have brown skin with yellow undertones, and many companies miss the mark and the shades are too red for my skin. My favorite way of applying the foundation is with a CLEAN makeup sponge. I find that a brush offers more coverage than I am looking for.  In my opinion, the foundation is full coverage but can be sheered out when applied with a sponge. I love a foundation that allows me to skip the step of concealer. This foundation lasts me all day, when set with a powder. I honestly get a great deal of compliments when I wear this foundation, I contribute this to the foundation being a perfect match with my skin tone.

The Covergirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Liquid Makeup (Almond Glow Q715)

I like this foundation, but I'm not in love with it. Let me start off by saying this foundation has MOISTURIZING qualities and may not be suitable for people with oily skin. I appreciate the moisturizers in the foundation, helps reduce the ashy-ness of my dry skin. My problem with this foundation? There's little to no coverage, more like a tinted moisturizer, which is ok, but that means I have to apply concealer. More steps that I am not crazy about. I apply this foundation with my Sonia Kashuk flat top brush. This foundation has an OK lasting power, even on my dry skin. I do appreciate the perfect color match. All in all, I just wish this foundation had more coverage. I'd much rather sheer out a foundation than have to keep building up the coverage... adding more product to my face.

Covergirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Minerals Pressed Powder (brown bronze 1, Q210)
I LOVE this powder, by far my favorite drug store pressed powder. Once again, I can't stress enough the perfect color match. I often find powders are way too light on my skin and make me look GHOSTLY, NOT CUTE, but this one is the perfect match. I have dry skin so I only use this powder to set my liquid foundations. I almost never use powder as foundation, as most powders grab on to the dry patches on my face. However, I have heard this makes a great powder foundation. I apply this with a big fluffy brush or a kabuki brush, if I'm looking for more coverage.

  1. You are not lying about that powder. It is the best ever. I wish more people knew about it.
